Arturo Bueno
Arturo is a Level 2 NCCP Certified Pickleball Instructor and the first Pickleball Professional Certified Match Analyst in Canada. With over 1,500 hours of coaching experience and more than 1,100 students taught, Arturo brings a depth of expertise that sets him apart in the pickleball scene.
Originally from a tennis background, Arturo discovered pickleball over four years ago and has immersed himself in the sport ever since. His transition from player to coach was driven by a passion to understand the game at its core — not just how it's played, but why.
Arturo’s coaching philosophy is built on customized learning, strong foundational knowledge, and strategic adaptability. He has designed and refined over 80 proprietary drills and progressions, transforming abstract, high-level game principles into clear, practical lessons. His approach simplifies complex concepts for players of all skill levels — whether you’re new to the sport or transitioning from another racquet game.
He is also known for his innovative “Non-Confrontation Matrix”, a framework that contrasts traditional instruction with his own evolving methodology — one that reflects the demands of today’s faster, more dynamic game. While other methods may be rooted in the past, Arturo’s coaching adapts with the sport's continuous evolution.
Arturo previously served as Head Coach at both MNP Community & Sport Centre and the University of Calgary, where he played a key role in establishing and shaping their pickleball programs.
His coaching style is clean, professional, and deeply analytical — grounded in the concept of Zugzwang, where every move matters, and intention drives performance.
At YYC Pickleball, Arturo is more than a coach — he’s a visionary redefining how we learn, train, and play the game.
